Meet the Business | Josie Hamilton-Cook, House of Colour

Today we meet Josie Hamilton-Cook, an Image Consultant with House of Colour based in Louth, Lincolnshire.

Tell me a little bit about you and your business?
I’m an Image Consultant with House of Colour. I help people to look and feel their best by helping them select the best colours for their skin tone. I teach people to dress to flatter their body architecture and shape and most importantly express who they truly are through their clothes and accessories.

What made you decide to start your own business?
My own personal journey with House of Colour has changed me so much and for the first time in my life I feel like I have permission to be me. I feel so much more confident and happy about who I am and the way I look and that has had a positive effect on all areas of my life. I am passionate about helping other people feel good about themselves. What I do really empowers people and helps them re-discover who they truly are. It’s about so much more than the clothes.

What do you love most about owning your own business?
The freedom to choose what I do and to be able to follow my passion and do a job that I love.

What do you least like about owning your own business?
Sometimes the amount I want to achieve can feel a little bit overwhelming, as I am the one who makes all the decisions but I wouldn’t want it any other way.

What do you have planned for your business in the future?
As this is a relatively new business I am planning to focus on getting more exposure about what I do through networking and my social media platforms. It is quite a new thing for Lincolnshire so word of mouth is crucial.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own business but not knowing where to start?
Do your research and get as much support as you can to help you focus on what you want to do. Go for it!

What are you most proud of when it comes to your business?
The impact I have on people’s lives. My clients have given me some great feedback about how much more confident and happy they feel and that they finally have permission to be authentic. I love it!

Do you think local businesses are well supported in North East Lincolnshire?
Yes absolutely, I have been so impressed with the amount of support that there is available and how many networking and training opportunities there are.

How do you feel the business culture has changed in North East Lincs?
I think we have an excellent forward thinking and innovative business culture. My impression is that entrepreneurs and people launching new businesses are really encouraged and there is always something new happening, which gives a really vibrant atmosphere.

Where can people find you both online and in “real life”?
In real life I am based in Louth. On line I am on Instagram @house of colour _josiehc and Facebook @houseofcolourjosiehc

Thank you Josie for giving us an insight into your business!
