And I don’t mean because it’s been FREEZING this month!
After all the festivities of Christmas and the New Year January can be a bit of an anti-climax. I used to dread this cold, dark month! However, after reading an article in a magazine many years ago I now look forward to January and think of it as a month to refresh, recharge and CHILL.
I like to reflect on my previous year, look at my year ahead, get some plans in the diary but also look after myself and take some time for some self-care.
I have spent a lot of January having nice hot baths, having a bit of a pamper and watching lots of movies curled up on the sofa with a good cuppa. I’ve also been doing some reading and even some pom-pom making with John’s daughter!
I went to my first counselling session with Amanda Woodhouse Counselling which was AMAZING! I won’t go into massive detail about my sessions but as I have mentioned before I suffer with anxiety and it felt great to chat with someone who had no knowledge of my background. I left Amanda’s office with some new techniques in tow, feeling really refreshed and light. Whether you suffer from mental health issues or not sometimes it’s just good to speak to someone impartial who is trained in helping you look at how you can rethink certain situations.
Natalie from The Make Over Fairy gave me a new “do” this month. My hair has taken a battering over the years. I have gone from brown to blonde and back again so many times, I use clip-in hair extentions, was washing my hair every day and also using lots of heat. How on earth I have any hair left I’ll never know. I loved my experience with Natalie in her gorgeous salon at her home. My hair feels AMAZING now and it was a nice little treat.
As well as looking after myself I wanted to give back to the community so I am speaking with a local community project at the moment about helping them with their social media. As part of my day job I am involved in the social media aspect and it’s something I love to do. So I wanted to use the skills I’d picked up to help a local cause. I’ll post more on this soon once details are all confirmed but I can’t wait to get cracking!
I also paid a visit Coastal Silver this month. John got me a gorgeous silver cuff bangle for Christmas, due to me having wrists like a child it kept coming off and I was so worried I would loose it. They turned it into a gorgeous full bangle and I LOVE it. It has the coordinates of where we went on our first date and also Cleethorpes, our home…..we’re soppy I know haha!
I also received a lovely gift from Cleethorpes Gift Company, an amazing Girl Up North plaque it’s so cute! Hayley also sent me some GORGEOUS wax melts that smell delicious, the scent lasts for hours after the burner goes out.
So although it’s been quite a busy January it’s been a nice and relaxed month to reflect and spend time doing the things that bring me joy.
I’d love to hear what you got up to in January?
Have a fab February!
