My Month: August 2019

Wow what a month August has been for amazing weather in North East Lincs and I was fortunate to have two weeks off to enjoy it. We have managed to pack quite a lot into August and have had lots of North East Lincs fun!

We’re All Going on a Summer Holiday!
Johns children have been off for the summer holidays so it’s of fun has been had, we try to do as many outdoor activities as we can. This month we went swimming at Cleethorpes Leisure Centre (don’t forget if you’re local get yourself a card to ensure you get the discount to avoid peak time charges).

BBQ’s and trampoline sessions at friends houses, strawberry picking, a lovely picnic at the park in Caistor (fantastic park I’d really recommend it for kids), walks on the seafront, movie nights and spending time with family.

It’s a dogs life and bargain blu-rays
We also had my parents’s dog Puddin for ten days whilst they swanned off to Mauritius so many a walk was had with him. He’s a bit of an old boy now so doesn’t go far but we managed to walk him (or should I say carry him) around Hemswell Market. John picked up some absolute bargain blu-rays to add to the collection including one which cost £5 but is selling on eBay for over £200). Love a good car boot! 🙂

One year on!
John and I celebrated our one year anniversary, we got each other a little treat (set ourselves a £5 budget for fun and we both successfully came up with the goods). Mine was so cute from Arttopia (one of my favourite shops in Cleethorpes).

Sounds a bit fishy
Highlight of my month (except for our one year anniversary of course) was being invited by the lovely Patrick and Toni from Aldred Enderby to the launch of their mobile street food boat RoRo.

I had to hide my inner fan girl when Patrick introduced me to his good friend Marco Pierre-White. I’ve visited his restaurant when I lived in London and I am a big fan! He was a really nice chap and was really interested in hearing about the work I do at HCUK Training so watch this space.

Shop local
Through my work with HCUK Training and through my blog I get to meet lots of local businesses and this month wasn’t any different.

I met with Sam from Nooks & Niches, Sarah from Dolly’s, Isabel from Hats & Tiara’s and Megan from The Fishermans Arms/The Royal Oak. All local business owners with amazing businesses. I’ll add their Instagram accounts below, check them out.

Here’s to you North Lincs Tyres
I’ve been putting off and putting off having my exhaust looked at, it’s sounded like a boy racer car for about three week. Low and behold I’d just been shopping, pulled up outside the house and CLUNK it was hanging off. Quick call to North Lincs Tyres and within an hour (and an embarrassing drive down Grimsby Road with my exhaust trailing from under my car) it was all sorted and back on the road. Massive THANK YOU to the chaps a North Lincs Tyres for sorting me out.

What a wonderful summer month we’ve had. The sun is still shining but we’re creeping into Autumn. We have a super busy September with birthdays, back to school and more adventures.

Have a lovely September!
